Global Convergence of Struggles for Land, Water and Seeds – West Africa (CGLTE-WA)
The Global Convergence of Struggles for Land, Water and Seeds – West Africa (CGLTE-WA) expresses deep concern and strong condemnation over the growing tensions, instability, and crises unfolding in Senegal and in several parts of the African continent.
At a critical moment when Africa must prioritize unity, social justice, democratic values, food sovereignty, environmental protection, and the wellbeing of its people, the rise in political unrest, violence, repression, insecurity, and social division threatens the future and stability of our nations.
Senegal has long stood as a symbol of democratic engagement and peaceful coexistence in West Africa. Any development that undermines peace, civic freedoms, human dignity, and national unity is a matter of grave concern not only for Senegalese citizens but for all African peoples committed to justice, freedom, and sustainable development.
CGLTE-WA calls on governments, political actors, civil society organizations, traditional institutions, youth movements, women’s groups, and regional bodies to reject violence and embrace sincere dialogue, accountability, inclusion, and peaceful democratic processes.
We further urge African leaders and international partners to address the root causes of recurring crises across Africa, including inequality, land dispossession, exploitation of natural resources, unemployment, corruption, external interference, environmental destruction, and the marginalization of local communities.
The struggles for land, water, seeds, dignity, and sovereignty are inseparable from the struggle for peace and justice. No nation can prosper where fear, division, and instability prevail.
Africa must rise above conflict and work collectively toward peace, solidarity, human rights, ecological justice, and people-centered development.
We stand in solidarity with the people of Senegal and with all African communities striving for peace, democracy, dignity, and social transformation.
United in struggle. United for peace. United for Africa.
